Bioethanol production across Germany remained strong for 2016 according to a press release from the Federal Association of the German Bioethanol Industry (BDBe) on Wednesday. Total German ethanol production reached 738,169t in 2016. 524,589t of ethanol was produced from grains, up 14% YoY, with ethanol production accounting for 1.2% of the total 45.3mn t of grain harvested in 2016.
Meanwhile, 191,270t was produced for industrial uses, 28% less than production in 2015. 12,310t of ethanol was produced from alternative feedstocks such as residues and food waste, the largest annual volume since 2009.
