CARB adds additional electricity credits to LCFS banking system

The California Air Resource Board (CARB) released Wednesday a total of 153,008 electric forklift charging credits, and placed them in the Electric Distribution Utilities account. By doing so, total LCFS credits generated by electricity in 2016 will reach over 725,000 tons, a 114pc rise, including both on-road and off-road generation, from the prior year. Total electricity generated credits in 2016 accounted for 8pc of the annualized credit generation volume prorated from the first three quarter’s generation. While the electricity credits are not subjected to blend in physical fuels, the OTC pure credits transfer market are left to digest the large volume.
