Ethanol spots remain under pressure

Indicative value drifted lower in the CFR Ulsan B Grade ethanol market on Wednesday as bid/ask spot spreads remained wide, mirroring the recent downward drift in reference Brazilian ethanol and other commodities. Nearby offer indications were seen holding in the 490s USD/m³ as sellers continued their wait for a determined buy side response. Value for anhydrous ethanol FOB Santos Brazil — the main source of imports into the Ulsan market — has fallen from the mid-450s USD/m³ a week ago to mid-market levels below 440 USD/m³ at the start of this week, with current September B Grade offers in Brazil shown at 440 USD/m³. Brazilian domestic anhydrous ethanol prices softened only marginally in July, with strong demand in the production-short Northeast offering support to prices in the larger production centres.
