New York City to increase biodiesel consumption through to 2034

The city of New York passed a legislation to increase biodiesel blending with heating oil to 20% by 2034, with the bill achieving a 47-3 vote and is expected to be signed off by the Mayor Bill de Blasio. The bill aims to increase the amount of biodiesel blended with heating oil from its current level of 2% to 5% by October 2017, with expectations blending can then reach 10% in 2025, 15% by 2030, and finally 20% by 2034.

NBB applauded the passage of the bill, pegging New York City as a great example for the rest of the northeast region in showing efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
